The Ministry of Education says that all schools in the island will be closed on the 20th due to the upcoming presidential election.
Also, the schools used as polling centers should be handed over to the relevant village officials after school hours on the 19th.
The presidential election will be held on the 21st and it has been decided to resume schools on the 23rd.
All zonal education directors and principals have been informed to provide necessary tables, chairs and hall facilities for polling station activities.
In addition, it is further stated that the following schools which are used as vote counting centers will be closed only during the period related to each school as mentioned in that document.
