It has been revealed that the number of births in Sri Lanka has gradually decreased in the last five years.
Data from the Department of Population and Statistics reveals that the number of births recorded in 2023 has decreased by approximately 70,000 compared to the number of births recorded in the country in 2019.
A declining birth rate has a direct impact on the country’s labor force.
Due to the decrease in the number of births in this way, it is possible that there will be a shortage of workers in various fields in the future.
Many countries in the world are also facing the challenge of decreasing the number of births and those countries are implementing programs such as financial aid and relief measures to increase the birth rate.
