According to the Commissioner General of Registration of Persons, Mr. G. Pradeep Saputhanthri, the period for issuing ID cards for people over 40 years of age who have not been able to get a National ID card so far has been extended until June 30.
He said that this program is being implemented for people who have not been able to get an ID card due to the lack of a birth certificate.
He says that the relevant program was implemented till the 31st of March and this decision was taken in consideration of the requests from the divisional secretaries to extend the period.
