This decision has been taken due to the passing away of former Minister Ronnie De Mal, who did a great job for education at the provincial and national level.
Accordingly, the Governor of the Southern Province issued a special announcement to fly the national flag at half-mast in all government institutions of the Southern province today.
The last rites of former minister Ronnie de Mel are scheduled to be done this afternoon at the Ruhuna University stadium.
His body has now been buried at Ruhuna University indoor stadium for public respect.
