The Central Bank is Ready to Answer About the Increase in Their Salaries

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says that it has paid attention to the comments made by some MPs in the Parliament regarding the latest salary revisions of their employees as well as the media reports.

The central bank says that this salary increase was approved by the governing body under the triennial collective agreement with the trade unions covering the period 2024-2026.

In this regard, the Governor of the Central Bank has been requested at the Board of Governors meeting held last February 21 to make a written request to the President as the Minister of Finance in accordance with Section 80 (2) (b) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act No. 16 of 2023.

It is about the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, through the people who normally communicate with Parliament, taking an opportunity to inform the Members of Parliament through an appropriate parliamentary committee about the process and rationale related to the recent salary revision of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka staff.

Accordingly, the Central Bank also says that the Governor of the Central Bank has made a written request on the last 22 days.

Accordingly, the central bank also claims that it is ready to explain its position in case of such a summons or in any case where information is requested.
