Temporary Flyover at Bambalapitiya Railway Station is Opened

Today, two employees have opened the temporary iron steps until a new construction is carried out to replace the dilapidated passenger flyover at Bambalapitiya railway station.

This morning, the Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardena inspected the Bambalapitiya passenger flyover and participated in the opening of the temporary passenger flyover.

With the photos being published and discussed in the social media about the dangerous situation here, President Ranil Wickramasinghe advised to start the construction of a new bridge immediately to replace the dilapidated passenger flyover at Bambalapitiya railway station.

Until then, the President had also instructed to construct a temporary access road within 10 days and provide facilities for the passengers to enter the railway station.

The President has announced to demolish the existing flyover and complete the construction of the new bridge within five months.

The temporary steps that were opened today were also built to start the construction of the new bridge.
