An elderly woman has been arrested for defrauding and taking Rs. 47 million from the chief thero of a temple in the Kelaniya area by stating that she would build a petrol station.
The Financial and Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department made the following arrest.
The 71-year-old woman is a resident of Gonawila Pamunuwila Nanayakkara Mawatha, who owns two petrol stations in Kadawatha and Ganemulla.
Information from the Criminal Investigation Department stated that the chief thero of that temple is also a university lecturer.
He also owns a temple in Japan.
He cannot be a priest. Just a businessman
