    Dengue cases have tripled compared to last year

    According to the Ministry of Health, the number of dengue cases has tripled this year compared to last year.

    The number of dengue cases reported so far this year is over 62,000.

    Dr Sudath Samaraweera, director of the National Dengue Control Unit, says that 60 people have died due to dengue during this period, and the majority of them are children and people under the age of 50.

    Health officials have indicated that if proper measures are not taken, the number of dengue patients may increase.
