The Department of Education Publications says that the cost of printing textbooks for next year will increase five times compared to last year.
According to an estimate made by that department, it is stated that Rs. 11 billion will be required for it.
Accordingly, the Education Publication Department said that it has been requested to provide the amount from the Treasury.
It is said that due to the current crisis, the percentage of textbook reuse is expected to increase from 30% to 60%.
Thus, the department informs that they will take back the textbooks of grades 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 in the future.
Apart from this, 45% of the requirement to print textbooks will be done by the State Printing Corporation and the remaining 55% will be handed over to private printers. Tenders will be called next week.
