The CID has arrested a person involved in assaulting MP Kumara Welgama his bodyguard – a police officer and his driver, setting fire to the cab in which they were traveling.
He is a 36 year old resident of Magammana area in Homagama.
The CID said the man was running a small business.
Kumara Welgama was attacked near the entrance to the Kottawa Expressway on May 09 in the wake of the unrest that erupted across the country following the attack on the Galle Face protest site and protesters.
Kumara Welgama was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Homagama Hospital for several weeks following the attack.
