It is reported that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has informed the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa by telephone this morning (7) to take over the post of Prime Minister and form a new government.
It is reported that the President has informed Sajith Premadasa that if he does not accept the post of Prime Minister, a motion to dissolve Parliament should be passed with the signatures of a majority of 113 members, and then he will take action to dissolve Parliament.
The reports further state that the Leader of the Opposition has told the President that he will not take individual decisions and that he can convene a group of parliamentarians to discuss the matter and give an answer.
