Sri Lanka won the three-match ODI series against South Africa today.
It is eight years since Sri Lanka won an ODI series against South Africa. Also, Sri Lanka won the cricket ODI tournament after about a year and a half since last series win.
Sri Lanka won the third ODI by 78 runs.
They won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 203 runs for the loss of 09 wickets at the end of 50 overs.
Charith Asalanka scored 47 valuable runs in the first inning of the match.
In reply, South Africa was bowled out for 125 in 29 overs.
ODI debutant Mahesh Theekshana took a wicket off his debut ball in his debut cricket match. He took 04 wickets for 37 runs in his 10 overs.
Earlier, three Sri Lankan players, Charith Buddhika, Kaushalya Lokuarachchi and Thilan Thushara, had shown such prowess. They played against Zimbabwe in 2001, Kenya in 2002 and the West Indies in 2007.
Dushmantha Chameera won the man of the match award today, taking 02 wickets for 16 runs in 04 overs. He also scored 29 runs off 39 balls.
The man of the match award went to Charith Asalaka.
