Kuliyapitiya OIC of Police, Mr. Wajira Indrajith, has been remanded until the 22nd of this month for assaulting a husband during a dispute between a couple, which was being examined at the Kuliyapitiya Police Women and Children’s Bureau.
The Magistrate ordered his remand during an appearance before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court today.
The head of the Women and Children’s Bureau has also recorded a note stating that the OIC assaulted an individual in her presence. Following this, the Senior Superintendent of Police of Kuliyapitiya initiated an investigation into the assault. Shortly after the commencement of the investigation, OIC Wajira Indrajith left the police station, citing illness. He remained unreachable for about two weeks, even deactivating his phone, and was subsequently remanded after surrendering to the court.
It is noteworthy that all attorneys at the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court appeared against him during his presentation to the court.
