According to political sources, the popularity of Pohottuwa’s presidential candidate Mr. Namal Rajapaksa has increased rapidly since the start of the presidential election campaign.
When businessman Dhammika Perera announced that he would withdraw from contesting the presidential election, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna handed over that responsibility to Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, who was working as its national organizer.
However, accepting the challenge that came unexpectedly, presenting the ‘Namal Dakma’ with a program that will develop the country in a short period of time, sources say that this popularity has grown because of policies like that the country will not be divided, declaring the primacy of Sinhala Buddhists, accepting the coexistence and respect with other religions, criticizing policies instead of criticizing the other candidate, remembering the war heroes who dedicated themselves to ending the war as well as the Suwa heroes who dedicated themselves to saving people’s lives from Covid and being the youngest presidential candidate.
Recently, in a political conversation held on a major television channel, the leader of the Nidahasa Janatha Sabhawa, Mr. P.M. Dallas Alahapperuma predicted that Mr. Namal Rajapaksa will get 40 lakh votes by analyzing the voter base for President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the village level.
According to political sources, Namal Rajapaksa will exceed the number of votes predicted by Mr. Dallas Alahapperuma if this popularity can be maintained in the next two weeks.
