President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that the Government of Sri Lanka and the International Monetary Fund have reached an agreement to revise the PAYE TAX system.
He said this at the presidential campaign rally held in Aheliyagoda yesterday.
The President says that the proposals of both sides are being considered and the specific information will be released soon.
“The IMF and we have agreed that it needs to be revised. The basic decision has been taken. We have made one suggestion. They have made another proposal. So when we reach an agreement after discussing these two proposals, we will announce the exact amount.”
This was said after a statement made two weeks ago by President Wickremesinghe hinting at future relief measures for personal income tax payers.
