President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that one of the world’s leading billionaires, Elon Musk, the head of Tesla and SpaceX, is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka within the next two months.
The President says that Musk’s visit to the country was confirmed with the passage of the Sri Lanka Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill in Parliament.
A member of the ruling Party said that the President mentioned this while participating in the meeting of the ruling party MPs group held in the Parliament recently.
The President has further said that the passage of the Sri Lanka Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill was very important for the journey towards a digital economy by carrying out economic reforms in the country.
A special meeting was held between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Elon Musk when he participated in the 10th World Water Conference held in Indonesia last May.
The President has shown Musk the need to implement the Starlink project in Sri Lanka.
The President has said that Elon Musk will come to Sri Lanka to discuss the basic work of the project.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe has also told the MPs that if the investments of world-renowned tycoons like Elon Musk can be invited to Sri Lanka, it will contribute greatly to the development of the country’s economy.
