    Sampanthan’s body will be brought to the Parliament tomorrow

    The body of the late, former opposition leader and leader of the Tamil National Alliance Mr. R Sampanthan is scheduled to be brought to Parliament tomorrow (03) for the last respects.

    Accordingly, the Parliamentary Affairs Committee has decided to keep Mr. Sampanthan’s body in the front hall of the Parliament complex on Wednesday (03) from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

    The last rites of late Mr. R Sampanthan are scheduled to be held in Trincomalee and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has given all the instructions to the relevant officials for providing related facilities.

    Parliament will meet today (02) and make a special statement by the President on debt restructuring, Parliament will not meet tomorrow (03) and the late Mr. Sampanthan will be paid his last respects there.

    Mr. Sambanthan was 91 years old when he died and he was also the oldest politician when he died. Meanwhile, Mr. Kadiravelu Sammugan Kuhadasan is scheduled to be appointed for the vacant post of MP due to the death of Mr. Sampanthan.

    Mr. Kuhadasan, who contested the last general election from Trincomalee district with TNA, was the first in the list of defeated candidates.
