The government held discussions with 3 investors who came to buy SriLankan

As part of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program, the government is working to privatize several state-owned enterprises and SriLankan Airlines is one of them, said Mr. Richard Nuttall, CEO of SriLankan Airlines.

“As part of the IMF program the government is trying to privatize a number of state-owned enterprises. One of them is SriLankan Airlines.” Mr. Natal was speaking to an Indian media, ANI, on Wednesday.

“There are two parts to that. One is, the government working to help us with our balance sheet and a lot of work has gone on with that and we expect that to be finished in the next one or two months.

And then the other side is looking for an investor. Expressions of interest were completed in April and there were six candidates. That’s now been whittled down to three. So the government is now talking to three different entities and we’ll see what happens from there,” he said.

No Indian company has expressed interest in investing in SriLankan Airlines, but one conglomerate has been observed to have several Indians, the CEO said.
