“Upcoming presidential election: The country’s fate at stake, not just mine”

President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that in the upcoming presidential election, it is not his victory or defeat that will be decided, but the country’s victory or defeat.

The President pointed out that if the people are satisfied that they should go ahead with the government’s program, then they can go ahead with that system, otherwise the people will have to suffer in a country with a collapsed economy, not being able to supply medicines and fertilizers and also suffering in fuel and gas queues.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe mentioned this while joining the policy reform discourse held at Battaramulla Waters Age Hotel yesterday (11) with the youth representatives participating in the Parliamentary Sectoral Oversight Committees.

The President pointed out that the people making various promises on the platforms today do not have any program to move the country’s economy forward.

In order to advance the country’s economy, the President asked all political parties to support the Economic Transformation Bill presented by the government and asked them to present it to the country if anyone has any other grievances.
