At least 50 smokers die every day in Sri Lanka

According to the Alcohol and Drug Information Center, nearly 50 people in Sri Lanka die daily due to the use of cigarettes.

The center points out that around 20,000 people die from smoking each year.

The Alcohol and Drug Information Center has mentioned this in a statement regarding World No-Tobacco Day, which is today (31).

“Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference” is the theme of this year’s World No-Tobacco Day.

Currently, the use of cigarettes in this country has decreased by 9.1%.

The center says that the use of cigarettes among young people is decreasing rapidly.

Among the countries in the world where the use of cigarettes is decreasing, there is a good trend in Sri Lanka.

But the Alcohol and Drug Information Center has further stated that about 1.5 million people continue to use cigarettes.
