Due to the current crisis in the Red Sea, the number of container ships arriving in Sri Lanka has increased by 32%, according to the Ministry of Ports and Aviation Services.
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says that the income received by the country has also increased compared to that.
The minister added that facilities will be developed at a cost of about 580 million dollars to expand the port to accommodate the increasing capacity.
