Former Member of Parliament Duminda Silva is receiving treatment at the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital under prison security, the Prisons Department said.
Former Member of Parliament Mr. Duminda Silva, who was convicted for killing former Member of Parliament Mr. Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and was serving his prison sentence, was released by the President’s pardon.
In 2011, Bharatha Laxman Premachandra was murdered. Duminda Silva was convicted by the High Court along with four others in 2016.
Former Member of Parliament Mr. Duminda Silva was released by the then President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in 2022.
The prison media spokesperson says that the prison department has informed the relevant authorities including the court that Mr. Duminda Silva is receiving treatment at the Jayawardenepura hospital.
The prison department has requested that Mr. Duminda Silva be admitted to the prison hospital.
But the specialist treating Duminda Silva had recommended that he should be treated in the same hospital.
