Several government institutes have taken steps to import a small number of vehicles for essential purposes.
State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has said that it is not possible to import vehicles for general purposes using this method.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment has been allowed to import an SUV, 21 double cabs for the Ministry of Health, 2 buses for the Ministry of Education 3 mobile maternity units, and 3 ramps for Sri Lankan Airlines.
The State Minister said that all these are brought to this country on the basis of foreign aid.
