According to the information that the chicken meat which was kept for sale for pets at a low price is bought by the businessmen and added to rice, kottu etc. and used for human consumption, the public health inspectors have raided a place in Minuwangoda public health area.
It has been revealed that animals that died during the transportation and production process of a well-known poultry farm in the area, are bought from that farm at a very low price and sold as animal feed in the area.
But the public health inspectors have observed that some of the stocks of meat that were at the time of the raid were in a condition unsuitable for giving to animals or for human consumption.
Minuwangoda Public Health Inspector’s office said that because they sold it without any license or label, about 2000 kilograms were arrested and brought to court.
