    8400 Local Government Employees to Receive Permanent Positions Pending Cabinet Approval

    In a recent news conference held at the Presidential Media Center, State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government, Mr. Janaka Wakkambura, announced significant developments in the recruitment process within local government institutions. He revealed plans to recruit 8400 employees, who have not yet been granted permanent positions, into the government’s permanent service. This initiative is pending approval from the cabinet and is expected to provide stability to the workforce.

    During the news conference, State Minister Wakkambura highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance stability and progress in the country. The theme of the conference, ‘Sthawara Ratakata Sawoma Eka Magakata’ (Towards a Stable Country for Progress), underscored the government’s commitment to creating a secure and prosperous environment for its citizens.

    Additionally, the state minister announced a collaborative effort between the Provincial Councils and the Ministry of Local Government, supported by the World Bank. Through this initiative, a substantial amount of nine billion rupees has been allocated to the health and education sectors. This funding will cover various projects and initiatives across all nine provinces, aiming to improve the quality of services provided in these essential sectors.
