An Egyptian national who stabbed the owner of the tourist resort called ‘Sun and Sea’ in Kuruduwatte, Weligama, has set fire to the resort and behaved in a violent manner.
This Egyptian named Hytham Hassan Bayomy Ibrahim Eldakar is 33 years old. This person was arrested by the Weligama Police officers after a lot of effort.
At the time of his arrest by the police, this Egyptian man sustained burns due to entering the burning building and is being treated at the Matara Hospital under police protection.
The police say that KK Mihiranga, the owner of the resort, who was injured by the knife, is being treated at the Weligama hospital.
The police say that it is not revealed why this Egyptian behaved like this. The arson also damaged the properties of an American couple and a Russian national who were staying at the resort.
It has been revealed that this man has been staying in this country for two years without a valid visa.
