Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that the Employees’ Provident Fund, the Employees’ Trust Fund and the banking sector are safe.
Congratulating the People’s Bank on its birthday on July 1st, the Prime Minister said this today (01) while speaking in the parliamentary debate on the implementation of domestic debt optimization to restore the sustainability of sovereign debt.
The Prime Minister stated that People’s Bank was the biggest bank that entered the banking system which was the great revolution of Sri Lanka and congratulated People’s Bank on its birthday and pointed out that People’s Bank created confidence in 57 million bank accounts compared to Sri Lanka’s population of 22 million.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), which was established by the Government in 1958 under the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, is the largest fund in Asia today with a value of 3.5 trillion rupees. He also emphasized that both EPF and ETF will be secured as institutions with the largest financial deposits.
