The beggar who killed an Ayurvedic doctor at the parking lot a year ago was arrested

Thalangama police have managed to arrest a beggar who fled and hid after killing an Ayurvedic doctor with a knife in the parking lot of a super mall in Thalawathugoda while roaming a year later in Rajagiriya.

Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa stated that the suspect was arrested based on information received by the police that he was staying in Rajagiriya, Welikada.

The arrested suspect is a 45-year-old resident of Welpalla. The police say that he is heavily addicted to drugs.

The murdered Ayurvedic doctor is Nishanka Perera (54), a resident of Thalahena.

Police say that on April 26 last year, he went to the super mall in his car to buy some essential items and when he came near the car, a beggar approached him and touched him. It is said that the doctor refused to give him money and advised him to get a job. The police said that the beggar, who was angry about it, argued with the doctor and stabbed him.
