Yesterday, the Criminal Investigation Department arrested five people, including its manager, in connection with a fraud of more than 45 lakhs rupees in Samurdhi Bank, Wele Wewa, Navaghattagama.
Two cashiers of Samurdhi Bank, a Samurdhi Development Officer and a suspended Samurdhi Development Officer are among the other suspects arrested.
A senior officer of the Criminal Investigation Department stated that the investigation revealed that the amount of money fraud in Samurdhi Bank was Rs. 4,536,506.
