Two women were called to the Welipanna police station to investigate a complaint had a conflict inside the police station, and one of the women attacked the police officer who went to stop it with a helmet.
The police have arrested a 52-year-old woman, a resident of Uthumgama, Matgugama, in connection with this attack.
The police say that this person’s husband is working as a laborer in a Katupol plantation in the Mathugama area. The other woman’s husband is a supervisor in that plantation estate. The police say that the supervisor has informed the management that the woman’s husband, who caused the conflict with the police, has not come to work continuously. According to the police, his work has been terminated and his wife has had a conflict with the supervisor’s wife based on that.
In this regard, both parties were called to the police station to investigate a complaint made by the supervisor’s wife to the police. Accordingly, a senior police officer said that when the two arrived at the police station, the conflict took place before the complaint was heard.
A Chief Inspector of Police working as the OIC of the Crime Division has intervened to quell the conflict. The senior official also said that she was arrested for trying to attack him.
The senior officer further stated that she was produced before the Mathugama court and released on bail.
