The launch ceremony of the new alliance formed by several parties including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to compete in the local government elections will be held today (11) at 3.30 pm at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party headquarters at Darley Road, Colombo.
This new alliance is called ‘Nidahas Janatha Sandhanaya’, and its symbol is ‘helicopter’, says Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s media Secretary Mr. Thisara Gunasinghe.
He mentioned that they represent parties the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the ‘Nidahasa Jantha Sabha’ including Mr. Dullas Alahapperuma, who broke away from the Podujana Peramuna, the Lanka Samasamaja Party representing the ‘Supreme Lanka Coalition’ chaired by Mr. Wimal Weerawansa, the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, the National Freedom Front, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, ‘Vijaya Dharani Jathika Sabha’, the ‘Yuthukam Sanwadha Kawaya’, as well as several Tamil and Muslim parties in this new alliance.
The report also states that around 40 members of parliament from the parties representing the new alliance are going to participate in this event.
