In the Lanka Premier League yesterday (13th), Softlogic Colombo Stars won by two wickets in the match against Galle Gladiators at Pallekele International Stadium.
Galle Gladiators, who batted first, scored 193 runs by losing 5 wickets at the end of the 20 overs. Kusal Mendis, who played a captain’s innings for Galle Gladiators, scored a valuable 72 runs off 49 balls. Apart from Kusal, Shapfiq, Thanuka and Udara strengthened the Gladiators team and scored 58, 33 and 24 runs, respectively.
Chasing a huge target of 194 runs, the Softlogic Colombo Stars team lost 8 wickets and recorded their victory in the last ball. Opener Dinesh Chandimal scored 63 runs in 33 balls for Softlogic Colombo Stars. Charith, who gave Dinesh an excellent support, scored 46 runs in 38 balls. Bopara, who played a crucial inning to secure the win, scored an unbeaten 31 off 12. Benny Howell scored 22 off 9 balls.
Ravi Bopara won the man of the match award.
