The government has taken steps to revise the special commodity tax imposed on imported big onions and canned fish.
Accordingly, the special merchandise tax of Rs. 50 imposed for 1 kg of onions has been reduced to Rs. 10.
The special commodity tax of Rs. 100 charged per kilogram of canned fish has been increased to Rs. 200.
The Ministry of Financial Economic Stabilization and National Policy stated that relevant tax amendments had been made to be effective from the first day of December.
