    The army sergeant who caught a bandit is appreciated

    A Sri Lanka Army Sergeant has chased after a person who was running away after robbing a female teacher working at Saranapala College, Matara, caught the suspect alive, and handed over the gold necklace worth nearly Rs. 150,000 to the Matara Headquarters Police along with the suspect.

    J. P. R. Chandramal, a Sergeant of the Sri Lanka Army, saw this incident while returning to his workplace after a short holiday and with great effort subdued the suspect and handed over the necklace and the thief to the Matara Police.

    The Sergeant’s service has been appreciated by the Sri Lanka Army due to the heroism of the sergeant despite the danger to his life.
