It is reported that the examination department has not paid an amount of Rs. 15 million to be paid to the teachers who conducted the GCE A/L and O/L examination duties.
It is also reported that the teachers who worked in the GCE A/L Examination held last year and evaluated the answers will have to be paid nearly Rs. 10 million and the teachers who worked in the GCE O/L Examination will have to be paid about Rs. 5 million.
In an inquiry about this, the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Mr. Joseph Stalin mentioned that the teachers will withdraw from the upcoming examination duties until the payments related to the previous examination duties are made.
Mr. Stalin also said that the authorities are requested to give the relevant allowances to the teachers and principals who are facing a serious economic crisis according to the current situation in the country.
