Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will respond legally to the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL) regarding the allegations regarding the quality of crude oil.
The reason for this statement is the recent statement made by the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Mr. Janaka Ratnayake to the media that because the crude oil imported by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is not of the standard, it is not possible to generate electricity from the crude oil received from the oil refinery.
Meanwhile, the minister also claims that Ceypetco has sufficient stocks of diesel and combustion fuel.
The minister also said that due to the Lakshapana collapse, and lack of sufficient funds at the CEB for diesel and combustion fuel and water management, the extension of the power cut has been requested.
Meanwhile, a progress review meeting for the import of fuel needed by the petroleum corporation in the next few months was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power and Energy.
The plan to import fuel required by the Petroleum Corporation for the next few months, the needs of the Ceylon Coal Company, the generation plans of the Ceylon Electricity Board and the financial needs of the three institutions were discussed there.
Indika Anuruddha and D.V. Chanaka, state ministers and a group of government officials were also present for that.
Response is not the criteria on who is right, but to do the right act without inconvenienceing the people of Sri Lanka.

This is all drama, with all the electricity bill increased by more than double,,the public still pays and the electricity and water supply boards are making millions, so its high time these two depaerments get their act together and, give the people uninterupted supply, of our essential services, it a respinsibility of theses Chairmans from both deparments to get their act together or just retire and give these posts to people who will sort these problems oit for our God forsaken Country.
