The Supreme Court has informed the Parliament that certain sections of the 22nd Constitution Amendment Bill are not in accordance with the Constitution.
The speaker, Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed this to the Parliamentary Assembly that met today.
According to the relevant notification, the Supreme Court has informed that the said clauses should be passed by a special majority in the Parliament and a referendum.
The speaker made this announcement under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena after the Parliament started at 9.30 am.
