    A cabinet sub-committee headed by the president for the planning of the 75th independence day celebrations

    A cabinet sub-committee headed by President Ranil Wickramasinghe has been appointed to organize and lead the activities of the Independence Day commemoration ceremony to be held on the day February 4, 2023, which completes 75 years after the country inherited independence.

    As the Minister of State Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has submitted the proposal in this regard to the Cabinet meeting.

    Accordingly, the sub-committee approved by the Cabinet is as follows.

    • Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe
      President
      Minister of Security; and Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy
    • Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena
      Prime Minister
      Minister of State Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government
    • Mr. Douglas Devananda
      Minister of Fisheries
    • Mr. Susil Premajayantha
      Minister of Education
    • Dr. Bandula Gunawardena
      Minister of Transport and Highways; and Minister of Media
    • Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella
      Minister of Health; and Minister of Water Supply
    • Mr. Ali Sabri
      Minister of Foreign Affairs
    • Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake
      Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs
