    66 divisions are identified as dengue high risk zones

    According to the National Dengue Control Unit, 66 Health Medical Officer Divisions have been identified as Dengue High Risk Zones.

    The unit stated that the dengue disease continues to spread rapidly in the medical officer areas of Mirigama, Wadduwa, Akmeemana, Balapitiya, Habaraduwa, Hambantota, Weligama, Kuliapitiya and Warakapola.

    With the prevailing rainy conditions, the population of dengue mosquito larvae has also increased.

    During the year so far, 48351 dengue patients have been reported and the highest number of cases have been reported from Colombo district.

    The National Dengue Control Unit says that the number is 12441.
