Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said that the current government is engaging in political gambling at a time when even living has become a problem for the people of the country and this gambling is no solution to everyone’s problems like oil, gas, milk powder, fertilizer problem etc.
The opposition leader said today (29) that the country needs a new government to get rid of this situation and it should be created in a new mandate without a private agreement and it should be done through a referendum.
He emphasized that the message they should give to the country when there are no solutions should not be political gambling and this political gambling is a characteristic of polluted political culture.
The World Bank, Fitch rating agency as well as various diplomats like Samantha Power clearly say that the stability of the country must be strengthened to build the country. The opposition leader further said that there should be a macroeconomic framework and there is a problem with what the members of the government have done in the past few months without setting this framework.
He said that the country can be built in this situation only with a new mandate. For that, he said that a new mandate should be given as requested by the religious leaders led by honorable Mahanayake Theros and that sharing government positions will not solve the pain and suffering of 20 million people.
