The affairs of 118 institutions belonging to 6 cabinet ministerial positions are currently under the control of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
It was with the President gazetting the institutions and scopes belonging to the ministries of the Cabinet Ministers.
Through this gazette announcement, the institutions and scopes belonging to 29 ministers have been included.
The President recently appointed 18 ministers to the cabinet. The number of ministries given to them is 23.
The gazette announcement also states that all the subjects and tasks, Departments, State Corporations and Statutory Institutions not specifically assigned to a particular minister will be under the care of the President.
Thus the Ministry of Defense (28 institutions), the Ministry of Monetary, Economic Stabilization and National Policy (59 institutions), the Ministry of Investment Promotion (4 institutions), the Ministry of Ports, Navigation and Aviation Services (6 institutions), the Ministry of Technology (6 institutions), Women’s Lama @ The Ministry of Affairs and Social Empowerment (15 institutions) will currently operate under the President.
