National Fuel Pass will be implemented from tomorrow

Minister of Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera says that from tomorrow (26th) Tuesday, the fuel supply system will be implemented at several CEYPETCO and LIOC filling stations across the island according to the National Fuel Pass.

Till August 1, this system will be implemented along with the last digit system of the number plate.

However, from August 1, only the QR system quota will be implemented. Then the last number and other provisions of the number plate system of the vehicle are invalid.

Members and volunteers of the National Youth Corps and the National Youth Council will support the implementation of this program at the filling stations for the next 10 days.

For filling stations that do not have facilities or have technical difficulties, the last digit of the vehicle number plate and fuel quota allocation system will be followed until the technical issues are resolved.

60% of the filling stations across the island are already technically equipped, have tested this system and will be given priority in fuel distribution.

Minister requests all filling station owners of CEYPETCO and LIOC to adopt the code system immediately.

Fuel delivery to fuel stations with QR facilities will be strictly implemented by August 1.

The Minister also said that he would request the public to register with the National Fuel Pass and cooperate with the initiative of this system.

By the end of this week, users and government agencies who want to register multiple vehicles with their business registration will be given options to register.

He said that the Divisional Secretaries will be given the necessary access to register generators, cultivation equipment and other equipment.

The police department and divisional secretaries are given access to register three-wheelers, and each three-wheeler is allocated to a specific fuel station.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport will be given access to register buses to depots or filling stations.

Other services like health, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, industries and service-providing sectors will also be given access to the system to register and reserve vehicles for fuel stations as per their needs.
