“Fuel will not be distributed until the vehicles in the queues are removed” – Minister

Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera said that the distribution to the fuel stations will not be done until the vehicles parked at the fuel stations are removed.

The Minister said that the date of commencement of fuel distribution will be announced in the future.

He points out that there are still queues of vehicles despite numerous requests not to queue at Ceypetco petrol stations until fuel delivery starts.

The Minister also emphasizes that both systems, the newly introduced National Fuel Pass and the distribution of fuel according to the last digit of the number plate will be made mandatory.

The Minister recalls that setting up the new system and implementing it is not an easy task.

But as it has to be implemented to ensure a weekly fuel quota for everyone in the next few months, public support is needed to run this smoothly and improvements will be made as needed, he said.
