Deshabandu emerges after Rs. 17.8 million found from Gotabaya’s cupboard

After the protesters entered the presidential palace, a group of university students found Rs. 17.8 million in the cupboard of the room where President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was said to be staying.

The university students have taken steps to take that money into their custody and hand it over to the officer named Nisheda Fernando, Senior Superintendent of Police of the Special Task Force, who was guarding the Presidential Palace at that time.

There he did not accept the amount and informed the Chief Inspector of Police Mr. Sagara Liyanage.

Accordingly, a police team including Mr. Sagara Liyanage went there and videotaped the place where the money was found and recorded the statements of 05 students, and took the money into police custody.

While taking necessary steps to report the money to the court, Senior DIG Deshbandu Tennakoon, who is missing since the night suddenly called the Fort Police Station Commander and told him to hand over the money to the minister in charge of police by tomorrow morning without leaving any notes about the money in the police books.

Police information stated that the Fort Police Station Officer refused and Deshbandu Tennakoon said, “You must do what I told you to do”.

The Fort Police Station Commander has made a police note that Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon spoke to him and pressured him. He also informed this situation to Police headquarters. Then the Fort Police Station Commander has received instructions from the police headquarters to not hand over the money to any outsider without consulting the Inspector General of Police.

    1. That money is peanuts go for the US $ Billions these scoundrals have stashed in foreign countries The new Lanka does not need any money from the IMF or ADB

    2. Compared to the billions Mahinda had filtered away into foreign banks this is peanuts. Please help the poor in the country side to plant trees such as coconut, jack, mango etc with this money.

    3. The students shows how honest they are……but it is not with the first sitizen of the country….We cannot move forward with another set of rogues. Next set of Parliamentarians should be selected after scrutinizing their credibility. These money should be taken to a public account and utilized to bring the essential medicines which is in short supply now….and Nandasena should be questioned publicly as to how he got this money…….

    4. I would assume the fact that the cash handover was on video and the sense that the days of playing up to political henchmen are over played a role in the new found courage of the poice.

    5. Deshababdu Tennyson presents very clearly as a very dishonest man, and demanding that the money found should be 17.8 million should be handed over to him, and not even entered in the police records. That D.I.G should be stepped off his position and demoted for his planned scheme

    6. Make sure that a new Band of rogues don’t try and run this beautiful country.. Choose carefully and keep an eye

    7. This money is to be handedover to the court. This stupid Dedhabandu is another PS basted. This money must not handover to any politician. Prasanna is another theaf.
