The National Audit Office says that a special audit on the distribution of fuel island wide will be launched in the near future.
Auditor General Chulantha Wickramaratne stated that complaints have been received from various sectors that fuel is not being distributed fairly and properly to all petrol stations throughout the country and that there are various irregularities in the distribution of fuel at certain petrol stations.
He, therefore, stated that this audit is being carried out.
He further said that only the fuel distributions made by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will be covered in the relevant audit.
However, the Auditor General said that the Indian IOC was not subject to this audit process.
