Sri Lankan Private Pharmacy Owners’ Association states that patients as well as themselves are suffering due to the excessive increase in the prices of drugs by pharmaceutical companies.
The treasurer of the association Manjula Jayawardena states that although the National Drug Regulatory Authority has the power to regulate the prices of drugs, they do not take any Action.
He added that many private pharmacies would have to close if there was no price regulation for drugs.
