IGP C. D. Wickramaratne has ordered the Director of the Ministerial Security Division to provide 6 Police officers leaded by a Sub Inspector of Police for the security of all members of the Parliament.
So far, the security was provided by only two officials for the MPs. Earlier, a state minister was given five officials and a cabinet minister was given six officials.
Senior officials at the Police Headquarters stated that these steps have been taken to increase the security of the MPs considering the current security situation in the country.
