Request for teachers and students to go to the nearest school has been dropped

The Secretary to the Ministry of Education has rejected a request made by the Teachers and Principals Trade Union Alliance to provide an alternative solution to the problems faced by teachers and school children due to the shortage of fuel.

The Teachers and Principals Union has requested the Secretary of Education to allow teachers and students to go to schools of their choice near their homes due to transportation difficulties.

It has also been suggested to the Secretary of Education that an alternative solution be provided if that request cannot be granted.

However, the Secretary of Education denied the request, said Joseph Stalin, Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union.
