A soldier serving in the Haputale STF camp has died after being shot to his head this afternoon.
The soldier, who was on security duty at the camp, was shot in the head and the manner in which the shooting took place is still a mystery.
The body was taken to the Diyatalawa Hospital. A senior police official said a forensic medical examination would be able to clarify some details about the shooting.
