Sri Lanka’s inflation was 14% in December, the Central Bank said.
It was 11.1% in the previous month, November.
Inflation is measured by the National Consumer Price Index (2013 = 100) calculated by the Department of Census and Statistics.
The change in the National Consumer Price Index, measured on an annual average basis, increased from 6.2% in November 2021 to 7.0% in December 2021.
According to the Department of Census and Statistics, the rise in inflation was mainly due to monthly increases in the prices of items in both food and non-food categories.
Accordingly, the annual point inflation in the food category has increased from 16.9% in November 2021 to 21.5% in December 2021.
Annual point inflation in the non-food category rose to 7.6% in December 2021 from 6.2% in November 2021.
